Huddersfield MAG - REP'S REPORT - Spring 2008

I would like to start by thanking everyone who attended the Yorkshire regional AGM. MAG is a democratic organisation, and democracy requires people to express their opinions and vote for an outcome, otherwise nothing would be achieved.

It is also a good way for members from our group to hear what other groups in the region are doing, and meet like minded people. So please come with me to the AGC in Bromsgrove and find out what’s happening nationally. A MAG goal for the year is to obtain representation on every transport and road safety forum. With a motorcyclist at each meeting our views are going to be heard, and issues which affect motorcyclists are more likely to be dealt with such as obtaining use of bus lanes, potholes and secure parking. MAG has already scored a victory in this area with a new standard for manhole covers, which for the first time includes a tractive surface requirement!

An active social life is also a fundamental part of MAG activity helping us to keep in contact with friends helps us to work together. Our Twelfty party was another success with a healthy profit of over £200 going to club funds. We have another Christmas party and pet food run, which as you would expect with our typical efficiency we are finally getting around to on the 19th April!

Hopefully this coming year will not be as plagued by the rain which spoilt some of last years events, allowing us to do more of what we really like –that’s to ride our bikes!!
